Dr.Heinerman’s Mineral Maxims

“My golden rules for maxim-izing your health, vitality, and longevity — for men and women aged 50 and over”

Based on a lifetime of scientific research, observation and experience, here are my favorite mineral maxims (short, easy-to-remember guiding principles) on how to…

  • “Give your body the essential minerals it needs to maintain vibrant health and vitality.”
  • “Understand the often-overlooked mineral connections behind the way your body functions, heals and ages.”
  • “Make wiser, more natural choices about your health by understanding the simple principles that nature has been teaching us all along.”
  • “Turn confusion about health and nutrition into a simple, practical understanding of what your body needs — so you can enjoy greater energy, vitality and wellbeing throughout your life.”

For Example, Imagine This…

You wake up one morning feeling tired, sluggish and simply not quite yourself.

Nothing seems seriously wrong. But you don’t have the energy you once had. Your body doesn’t seem to bounce back as quickly. And you wonder if perhaps this is simply what happens as you get older.

But What if it Isn’t?

What if some of the changes you blame on age are actually signs that your body isn’t getting enough of something it has needed every day of your life?
Minerals.

Tiny amounts of essential elements that your body cannot manufacture for itself — yet uses in countless processes essential to life.

Or How About This…

You’ve tried to eat better. You’ve taken vitamins. Perhaps you’ve even followed various health programmes over the years.

Yet you still find yourself wondering:

What Does My Body Actually Need to Stay Healthy?

And why do so many seemingly unrelated health problems appear as we grow older?

The answer may be far simpler — and far more fundamental — than you ever imagined.

Because before your body can make the most of the food you eat, the supplements you take or the healthy habits you adopt, it needs the right mineral building blocks to put them to work.

And once you understand the Mineral Maxims, you’ll begin to see your health — and your body — in an entirely different light.

Or Let’s Say…

You want to stay healthy and active for as many years as possible with minimal effort.

You don’t want to wait until something goes wrong before you start paying attention to your health.

You want to understand what you can do now to give your body the raw materials it needs to keep functioning at its best.

That’s exactly why I spent a lifetime studying natural health, observing the remarkable ways in which minerals affect the human body, and recording the simple principles I discovered.

And now, those principles have been distilled into my ‘Mineral Maxims’ — short, memorable pieces of health wisdom designed to stay with you for life.

But What’s So Special About ‘Mineral Maxims’?

Think about how you feel when you’re confronted with a confusing health problem…

There are thousands of books. Millions of words. Endless theories, opinions, diets, supplements and conflicting advice.

At moments like these, you don’t need another textbook.

You need a simple principle you can remember.

A ‘maxim’.

A short, powerful sentence that cuts through the confusion and reminds you of something important about your health — precisely when you need to remember it.

That’s the genius of a maxim.

And that’s why my ‘Mineral Maxims’ may prove to be among the most valuable pieces of health wisdom you ever discover.

Because they aren’t simply tips collected from a book.

They represent the distilled wisdom of a lifetime of research, observation and experience — a health legacy I have left freely for anyone and everyone who discovers it.

Who Am I to Be Giving Advice?

My name is Dr. John Heinerman.

If you’re wondering why, you should pay attention to anything I have to say about your health when the world is already overflowing with doctors, nutritionists, health experts, supplement companies and self-proclaimed gurus…

Here’s a genuine reason:

I’m a medical anthropologist. That’s someone who studies how people, cultures, environments, and health practices interact, to understand what keeps people healthy.

I’m not saying I have all the answers.

In fact, after more than forty years of studying natural health, travelling the world and listening to people from almost every imaginable background, I’ve learned to be rather suspicious of anyone who claims to have it all figured out.

My approach has always been rather different.

A lifetime spent asking questions.

For more than four decades, I’ve travelled through 33 countries, studying the ways different cultures have approached food, health and healing.

I’ve had the privilege of speaking with physicians and research scientists…

Herbalists and traditional healers…

Farmers and gardeners…

And ordinary men and women whose practical knowledge of food, health and the land has often been passed down through generations.

I’ve listened to explanations in laboratories, stories around kitchen tables.

I’ve examined scientific research.

And I’ve paid close attention to what people who remained remarkably healthy into old age were actually doing.

Because I wasn’t looking for another fashionable theory.

I was looking for patterns.

Patterns that appeared again and again…

Even when the countries were different.

The cultures were different.

The foods were different.

And the climates were different.

Over the years, I’ve written books on herbs, fruits, vegetables, healing juices, folk medicine, vitamins and minerals, trying to make the knowledge I’d gathered accessible to ordinary people who simply wanted to understand their health a little better.

But if there is one thing that has changed my thinking more than anything else, it is what I discovered when I began looking beneath the food people ate…

To the soil in which that food was grown.

To the water that nourished it.

To the minerals that passed from the earth…

Into the plants…

Into the animals…

And ultimately into us.

I didn’t begin my career intending to become an advocate for minerals.

Quite the opposite.

I arrived at them by following question after question wherever those questions led me.

And after decades of doing that, one conclusion became increasingly difficult to ignore:

The foundations of health are often much simpler — and much more fundamental — than we imagine.

That’s why I’ve distilled some of the most important lessons I’ve learned into these Mineral Maxims.

They’re not commandments.

They’re not miracle cures.

They’re not the latest health fad.

They’re simply the principles and observations that have remained with me after the books were written in answer to the questions asked over and over again.

But rather than toot my own horn about how important my work is…

I’d prefer to let the people who have actually read my books, tell you.

The Three Foundations of Knowledge Behind My Mineral Maxims

In Mineral Maxims, I will share the most important principles I’ve discovered during more than forty years of studying natural health, travelling through 33 countries, speaking with physicians, scientists, herbalists, traditional healers, farmers and ordinary people — and constantly asking one question:

What do the healthiest people understand about health that the rest of us have forgotten?

For Example…

Like a detective who gradually sees a pattern emerging from hundreds of seemingly unrelated clues, I began noticing the same underlying principles appearing again and again — despite enormous differences in countries, cultures, climates, diets and traditions.

And one of those principles kept bringing me back to the same place…

Minerals.

Not because they’re the latest “health breakthrough.”

But because the longer I studied nutrition, the harder it became to ignore the fundamental role they play in the body’s remarkable chemistry.

In my Mineral Maxims, I’ll share some of the most important connections I’ve discovered between healthy soil, healthy food, naturally mineral-rich water and human health.

You’ll discover why I came to believe that many of the answers we seek about nutrition become easier to understand when we first look at the foundations beneath them.

And because these are ‘Maxims’, you won’t need to memorise complicated theories or wade through hundreds of pages of technical information.

They are short.

They are memorable.

And each one is designed to leave you with an idea you can carry with you.

The Patterns I Found Again and Again

During forty years of travelling and research, I learned that healthy people don’t necessarily live the same way.

Their diets can be completely different, yet beneath those differences, I repeatedly found fascinating similarities.

For example, I’ll show you why I became increasingly interested not simply in what people eat, but in where that food comes from…

What sort of soil produced it…

What water nourished it…

How that land had been treated…

And what their grandparents ate before modern agriculture and food processing changed so much of our relationship with the land.

I’ll explain the simple chain that kept appearing in my research:

Healthy soil → mineral-rich plants → healthy animals → nourishing food → human health.

Break the chain anywhere along the way, and the nutritional picture changes.

For Example, In My Mineral Maxims, You’ll Discover…

  • Why I believe minerals deserve to be regarded as the foundations of nutrition — and why their importance is so often overshadowed by the attention given to vitamins, proteins and other nutrients.
  • The remarkable connection between the soil beneath our feet and the food on our plates. You’ll discover why I became increasingly fascinated by the mineral content of the land in the communities where I found exceptional health.
  • Why I stopped looking for “miracle” foods and miracle remedies. After decades of research, I learned that genuine health rarely comes down to one magical ingredient. The body is more like a magnificent orchestra, with many different nutrients and systems playing their parts together.
  • The question I learned to ask whenever I encountered an unusually healthy community. Not simply, “What do they eat?” but “Why do they eat those foods?” That seemingly simple question opened the door to some of the most fascinating discoveries of my career.
  • Why healthy soil matters more than most people realise. Plants cannot manufacture minerals. They must obtain them from the soil — and ultimately, so do we.
  • What traditional wisdom can teach modern nutrition. I’ll share some of the lessons I encountered among people whose nutritional practices had survived for generations, and explain why I believe good science and careful traditional observation need not be enemies.
  • Why I believe we should learn to recognise patterns rather than chase health fashions. Individual studies, fashionable diets and popular health theories come and go. But certain fundamental principles continue to appear wherever people enjoy robust health.
  • Why the question “Where do the minerals come from?” became one of the most important questions of my professional life. Once I began asking it, I found myself returning to it whether I was studying fruits, vegetables, herbs, juices, vitamins or traditional remedies.
  • Why I don’t ask you to accept traditional health wisdom blindly. Nor do I ask you to accept modern scientific opinion blindly. I believe in something much simpler: good evidence, careful observation and quiet curiosity.
  • How to think differently about ageing and health. Rather than beginning with disease and asking what might fix it, I’ll show you why I believe we should first ask a more fundamental question: What does the body require to remain healthy in the first place?

The One Question Behind All My Maxims

After a lifetime of travelling, researching, writing and asking questions, I have learned that the most valuable health discoveries aren’t always the most complicated.

Sometimes they’re the simplest.

Sometimes they’re the things that have been sitting in front of us all along.

And sometimes the most important discovery isn’t an answer at all…

It’s learning to ask a better question.

That’s why I want you to begin with one question that has followed me throughout my career:

“Where do the minerals come from?”

Follow that question far enough…

And it can take you from the soil beneath your feet…

To the food on your plate…

To the water in your glass…

And ultimately to the extraordinary chemistry taking place inside your own body.

That is the journey I invite you to make with me through my Mineral Maxims.

Because these aren’t simply lessons I’ve collected from books.

They are the principles that remained with me after a lifetime of observation and research.

And now, they’re yours.

Seven Words That Can Change the Way You Think About Your Health

There is one simple idea that sits behind everything I’ve learned about natural health.

It can be expressed in just seven words:

“Health is built upon foundations, not miracles.”

Understand that principle, and you begin to look at health differently.

You stop chasing every new “breakthrough.”

You become more curious about the quality of the food you eat, the water you drink and the nutrients your body depends upon.

You begin asking better questions.

And you become much harder to distract with every new health fashion that comes along.

That’s why I invite you to subscribe to my Mineral Maxims.

They are my attempt to distil more than four decades of research, observation, travel and experience into simple principles you can live by — and perhaps carry with you for the rest of your life.

I hope you’ll discover something in them that helps you, and those you care about, enjoy healthier and happier lives.
